1.What are the symptoms of swine flu ?
The symptoms of swine flu are rather the same as an ordinary seasonal flu . Like having fever , cough , sore throat , body aches , chills & fatigue . It is different because it is a flu that leads to death .
2. How is it spread ? Through food ? Is it airborne ?
It is spread when a human being comes into contact with a pig that has been infected . & then the infected person would be about to spread the virus as it is airborne . Fortunately, cooked food would be very safe to eat as it would not spread the flu .
3.What is the current pandemic alert level as indicated by the WHO ? Do you think Singapore is at risk ?
The current pandemic alert is a phase 5 . Which also mean that the virus is being transmitted between country to country . Definitely , Singapore is at risk . I'm sure there is more than a thousand people going in & out of Singapore . Coming from all sorts of countries , going to all sorts of countries . How could Singapore not be at risk ?
4.What are your thoughts & feelings towards this event ? Are you afraid ? Confident in the government ? Worried about your relatives ? Ambivalent ? Happy that schools are closed ?
Honestly , the first time when I heard about swine flu , I was rather excited & very eager to get it ... But after I heard that it is spreading to more countries , I got really frighten . My friends & my family even have similar symptoms ! Can you imagine a normal flu can actually lead to death ? But I would still want to get it . I want to know what it feels like to get such viruses that can actually kill . Wouldn't you think its cool ? & if you survived , its a experience gained . I wouldn't mind getting them myself , but I do not want my friends & family to get it . I mean , who knows , they may die & you wouldn't & it would turn out to be your fault ... But I am very confident with the government , because I know they have taken many safety percautions to prevent all of us to get infected . Now even churches have to take safe percautions . So I have faith in our government that they would keep our country safe . & I would definitely be very happy if schools are closed , if there are not e-learning ! But at the same time , I would be really sad because , my parents would not allow me to go out & hang out with my friends . So its like equals to being infected . I would prefered things to be perfectly safe .
